I can’t decide what I am looking forward to more this season. Its either Richard Petty’s 43 car getting back in the winners circle or seeing Joey Logano race a full season with a good car under him. Those 3 races Joey ran last season are not a fair judge of what he can do if only he has the right equipment. For example just look what he did in the Nationwide Series with a good Joe Gibbs prepared car under him. He started 19 races had 1 win, 5 top 5’s and 14 top 10 finishes and also got the pole 3 times. The 3 Sprint Cup races he started 2 of those were in Hall of Fame Racing rides, yeah I know they have an association with Gibbs but you know their not getting the best stuff. So to go by those 2 races and judging Logano is not right. The third race was in a Gibbs car but I believe it was a quickly thrown together car and didn’t handle well. With those 3 poor finishes he still managed to complete 98 % of the laps at all 3 races so he knows how to take care of a car. Ive seen Jeff Hammond on Speed recently saying how he thinks Joey is going to have it rough this season. I hope he’s man enough to admit that he’s wrong when Logano wins a couple races this season. I get all my racing info from Racing Reference, a really cool site with tons of stats on drivers.

Reed Sorenson has been in Nascar 5 years and coming into this season I bet he’s feeling some added pressure. This year hes going to be driving the 43 car, the most famous number in Nascar history and yes I’m even including the 3 car Earnhardt lovers. The 43 has been around from the beginning always used by the Petty’s. Sorenson’s last 4 years were with the Chip Ganassi team in the 41 car. To me it seemed the Ganassi team never had the equipment for Sorenson to contend for a win. In his 4 years with them he did manage to get 5 top 5’s and 13 top 10 finishes but never did win a race. I thought when Ganassi hired Juan Pablo Montoya things even went more down hill for Sorenson because it seemed to me that they were putting all their effort into Montoya’s car and forgetting about Reed’s. I’m happy to see him with Richard Petty Motorsports and I bet he gets the 43 back in the winners circle at least once this season.

The college basketball polls are beginning to look a lot like the ones in football. If you get to number 1 then your quickly knocked off and back down in the polls. That’s what happened last night as the Duke Blue Devils got knocked from the top spot by the 3rd ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacon’s. Wake Forest led almost the entire game but then let a 13 point lead late in the second half slip away before composing themselves and hanging on for the win. Wake was led by freshman Al-Farouq Aminu with 15 points and 10 rebounds followed by James Johnson with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Duke was led by Kyle Singler with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Gerald Henderson added 20 points and 8 rebounds. Dukes starters had better numbers but the Deacons were more balanced. The difference in the game was the benches because the Deacons bench out scored the Blue Devils 18-7. With 3rd place Pitt also losing last night it appears that the Deacons with their only 1 loss are headed back to the top of the polls.

The Lakers have had impressive victories in the past month against teams like the Celtics, Spurs and Cavaliers but the lowly Charlotte Bobcats have their number. The Bobcats beat the Lakers in double overtime last night 117-110 for their fifth victory in their last six games against the Lakers. Kobe Bryant scored 38 for the Lakers but fouled out for the first time this season in the final minute of the first OT. Andrew Bynum added 24 points and 14 rebounds and Derek Fisher contributed 14 points. Pau Gasol had a off night only going 4 for 16 from the field and managing 10 points. The Bocats ahd 6 players score in double figures led by Boris Diaw’s 24 points and Raymond Felton’s 21 points and a career high 11 rebounds. Emeka Okafor added 18 points and 11 rebounds and Raja Bell had 17 points. Next up for the Lakers is the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Bobcats next game is against the Portland Trailblazers.

It seems Terrell Owens is going to have his own reality show now. As if I’m not addicted to enough crap on TV now here comes another show. Do I really need to watch T.O. doing sit-ups all day long or having his assistant’s play match maker for him or talk him through his personal problems he has. No I don’t need to watch it but I’m sure I will. I get a kick out of reality shows and seeing how the rich and famous live. Not that I really believe that’s how they would live their life if cameras wasn’t there but still its fun to see. I don’t really see how they will make Owens that interesting though. To me all he’s known for is his antics on the football field. His arrogant ego driven touchdown dances or his little spats he’s had on the sidelines with various teammates. His personal life I don’t see as that interesting but of course I will tune in to see.
