Detroit Lions Hire New Head Coach

Published by wv918 at 10:46 am under football Edit This

Jim Schwartz has been hired by the Detroit Lions to try and turn around a team that went 0-16 this season. They announced the hire yesterday and he is to be introduced at a news conference today. Schwartz comes from the Tennessee Titans where he spent 10 seasons the last 8 of those being the defensive coordinator. Those who follow the NFL know the Titans are always at the top of the league as far as defense is concerned. The Lions need help bad on the defensive side of the ball. There 8 home games this season they lost by a average of over 21 points. They don’t really look that bad on offense although they need a quarterback. I can’t see them starting next season with Daunte Culpepper. He left his best days back in Minnesota on a yacht. They do have Kevin Smith at running back who just fell short of having a 1,000 yard season. Then they have Calvin Johnson who had 78 catches for over 1,300 yards and 12 td’s. So they have the start of a pretty good offense if they just get a qb. I hope Schwartz is able to turn the Lions around because I hate to see a team struggle like they have for so long. Unless it would happen to be the Cowboys or the Steelers.
