Cardinals Clip Eagles Wings For Super Bowl Berth
Its been a long wait but one of the founding teams in the NFL has finally made it to the Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday 32-25 and earned a trip to Tampa in 2 weeks to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cardinals jumped out to a 24-6 halftime lead on 3 Kurt Warner touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald of 9,62 and 1 yards. Fitzgerald finished with 9 receptions for 152 yards and the 3 td’s. Kurt Warner was impressive in only missing the target 7 times in going 21 for 28 for 279 yards and threw 4 td’s. The other touchdown pass he threw turned out to be the game winner to Tim Hightower for 8 yards with just under 3 minutes to go in the game. The Cardinals 24-6 halftime lead didn’t last long once the third quarter started. The Eagles came out of halftime with their defense fired up and shut the Cardinals down completely only allowing them 8 yards in the entire quarter. Donovan McNabb threw 3 touchdown passes in the second half. He threw 2 td’s to Brent Celek of 6 and 31 yards and also a 62 yard bomb to DeSean Jackson in the fourth quarter that gave the Eagles the lead 25-24 until Warner took his team down the field for the winning Cardinals drive. Now the Cardinals are headed to the Super Bowl to face the Steelers and their hard hitting defense.
