Busch,Gordon Win Gatorade Duels
The field is finally set for Sunday’s running of the Daytona 500. Yesterdays Gatorade Duel’s won by Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch set the line up. Both races were relatively free of any big crashes but there were a few single car spin outs.
I was expecting more from Bill Elliott but his transmission locked up and he hit the wall and as a result will be starting in the back of the field for the 500.
In the first race Tony Stewart’s high finish locked in Regan Smith who was in the second race. Scott Riggs also made it in with his strong finish.
I thought I had Nascar’s rules of qualifying finally figured out but I was wrong. My thinking was the top 2 finishing cars in each race that wasn’t in the top 35 in points got in the race.
Kyle Busch held off a late pass attempt by Mark Martin to win the second race. Jeremy Mayfield and AJ Allmendinger raced their way into the 500 with their finishing positions.
So the field is all set for the big race Sunday which will be on Fox starting at 2pm. Check out the entire starting line up by going to Fox Sports.
