Todd Bodine Hangs on to Win Truck Race
Todd Bodine held off a charge by Kyle Busch on the last lap to win the Nascar truck series race last night on Speed. He came back from being penalized earlier in the race for passing below the yellow line but it didn’t take him long to charge to the front again.
Kyle Busch ended up finishing second and Terry Cook was third. There was 6 cautions for 30 laps in the race and wrecks left almost half the field in the garage by the end of the race.
The worst wreck took out 9 trucks and occurred around the midway point of the race. It ended up taking out last seasons champ Johnny Benson as well as former motocross star Ricky Carmichael who now drives for Kevin Harvick.
Bodine came into the race without a sponsor on his truck after they pulled out several months ago but I’m willing to bet he has one by the time they hit the next track.
The qualifying for today’s Nationwide series race at Daytona was yesterday. Kevin Harvick got the pole for the race. In total there are 8 regular Sprint Cup drivers starting in the top 10. The only 2 Nationwide regulars in there are Jason Leffler and Danny O’Quinn Jr.
The race will be on ESPN2 starting at 12pm.
