Busch Brothers Get Front Row at Vegas
The Busch brothers did something in qualifying that hasn’t been done in 9 years. Both won the top 2 spots in the field for the Shelby 427,which will be on Fox tomorrow starting at 1pm. The last brothers to accomplish the feat was Rusty and Kenny Wallace at New Martinsville back in 1999.
Unfortunately Kyle Busch had changed his motor in practice before qualifying and per Nascar rules has to go to the rear of the field. Toyota had a rash of engine problems and in all 5 cars had to change engines and go to the back for the race.
David Reutimann and Marcos Ambrose was to start fourth and fifth before the changes. Also team mates Brain Vickers and Scott Speeds two Redbull cars had to swap engines.
Jimmie Johnson will start third followed by Ryan Newman in sixth, then Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart round out the top ten.
Some of the bigger name drivers didn’t qualify well and will start back in the pack. Jeff Gordon was 28th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 31st, Denny Hamlin 34th and Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth will be all the way back in 40th spot.
The 2 one car teams everyone has been talking about, the 41 driven by Jeremy Mayfield and the 36 of Scott Riggs failed to make the race. Both had made the previous 2 races in Fontana and Daytona.
