The Nascar Sprint Cup series makes it’s first stop of the racing season in Texas this weekend. They will be at the Texas Motor Speedway for the running of Nascar’s Samsung 500 which will be televised on Fox at 2pm.
Nascar has being coming to the Texas track since 1997, the first eight years they paid only one visit a season here. The last four years they have ran 2 races per season at the track. Jeff Burton won the first race back in 1997, he is one of only four drivers who have started all 16 races. The other three are Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin and Bobby Labonte.
Jeff Gordon has never won at the Texas Motor Speedway in 16 starts and has an average finishing position of 16.1. Roush Fenway cars have dominated at the Texas track with Carl Edwards winning a total of 3 times and Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and Mark Martin( previously with Roush racing) all winning here.
Breaking down wins by car maker sees that Ford has won here 9 times, Chevy 5, Dodge 2 and Toyota has yet to win a race at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Dale Earnhart Jr. won the pole for the Samsung 500 last year and ended up finishing 12th. Carl Edwards started 2nd and was the eventual winner. There was 5 cautions for 26 laps.

Well nobody guessed the right finishing spot for Reed yesterday in the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinville. He had a 17th place finish and while there was one guess who was almost right by saying 18th they didn’t hit the mark.
So now the contest goes on to the race this Sunday at Texas. Guess which place Reed finishes in and if your right you win the autographed photo of him. Just go here for a look at the photo and rules for playing, Reed photo contest, but make your guess here on this post.
I was liking the way the race was going yesterday until Jimmie Johnson bumped Denny Hamlin out of the way for the win. My driver’s have did it before so I’m not complaining and like they say it’s short track racing. It just pisses me off that Saint Jimmie wont admit he bumped him to win the race but whatever.

Once again Denny Hamlin had the dominant car at Martinville but has nothing to show for it but a second place finish. Jimmie Johnson pushed past him with 15 laps to go then held on for the win in the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500.
Their versions differ on what happened but its just short track racing. Jimmie Johnson trying so hard to explain it as Denny Hamlin getting into him is just Jimmie trying to keep his squeaky clean image intact.
God forbid the great Jimmie Johnson would revert to bumping someone out of the way to win a race. Denny Hamlin handled it well though and didn’t complain and threaten retaliation which is good because when he wrecks Jeff Jr., I mean Jimmie at the next short track they go to Mike Helton wont have video evidence to say it was retaliation. Helton needs to just keep his nose out of it and continue what he’s doing, kissing Rick Hendricks ass.

Well for the second day in a row rained washed out happenings at Martinsville Speedway. The Camping World Truck Series race, the Kroger 250 was rained out and rescheduled for Monday. They did manage to do qualifying in a light drizzle and Rick Crawford in the number 14 truck got the pole.
The final practice for the Nascar Sprint Cup race, the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 was cancelled. With qualifying rained out Friday that means the cars have been on the track for a total of 1 ½ hours this weekend. It’s going to be interesting to see the cars handle with no rubber on the track, and the teams not having anytime to adjust on them to get them set up good for the race.
I checked the weather this morning and it says theres a 40% chance of showers in the morning but it looks pretty good for the afternoon. The race starts around 2:30 I think so I believe the rain will be over by then.
You still have about 5 hours to place your guess for what place Reed Sorenson will finish in the race. Winner gets a autographed photo of him. Contest here

Looks like I called the weather right yesterday at Martinsville but it really didn’t take a rocket scientist to see qualifying was going to be rained out. So Jeff Gordon got the pole and the best pit stall, not that he needs any help since he’s won here 7 times in the past. Kurt Busch will start on the outside pole for the race.
They did get to run practice 1 ½ hours yesterday morning before the rains came. Denny Hamlin was fastest followed by Kevin Harvick,Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya and Clint Bowyer to round out the top 5.
Theres suppose to be a Camping World Truck series race today at the track but the weather is still looking awful so its doubtful if it will run. I was checking the weather for Sunday and even it is not good so the Nascar race may have to be postponed until Monday.
You still got today and tomorrow till noon to guess what place Reed Sorenson will finish in to win a autographed photo of him. Like I said before its not some of his old Target junk its a new signed photo from Speed Weeks in February with his new car and team, Petty MotorSports. Reed Sorenson photo contest
