Robby Gordon accused of cheating in Baja race

Published by wv918 at 12:27 pm under Nascar Edit This

This is wild story I just found concerning Nascar driver Robby Gordon and the Baja race he runs every year. He is under investigation for cheating during the running of the Baja 250 race. Several drivers are accusing him of using a short cut and cutting four miles off the mapped out course they are suppose to run. Ive never really followed off road racing other than watching it for a few minutes on Speed TV.

Its hard to keep track of the trucks on the course so the drivers just use the honor system and play fair and by the rules. Apparently Mr. Gordon doesn’t believe in the honor system.

Supposedly they have eye witnesses who saw him driving in an area where he wasn’t suppose to be during the race. A pit crew saw him and thought his truck had broken down but later on heard that he had finished in second place.

Gordon is the owner and also driver of the number 7 Toyota team in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series. Ive never really cared for him much. Seems like whenever any of my favorite drivers wreck Robby Gordon is right there in the middle of it.

Robby didn’t cheat. The area of the course in question was declared an “open area” at the pre-race drivers meeting. Some of his competitors accused him of cheating because they didn’t have the cajones to drive over the cliff and save themselves time. That route has been used often by motorcyclists on that course, but it’s very difficult to do in a big Trophy Truck.

At the finish line of the race, the sanctioning body ruled that Robby took 2nd, fair and square. Some drivers appealed that decision. As the investigation went forward, those drivers realized how dumb they were looking, and withdrew their appeal.

The decision was final and official as of yesterday - Robby did not cheat, his second place finish for the race stands, as does his first place standing in the SCORE championship.

Look it up (score-international.com) before spreading hate.

Dude title of the post says ACCUSED not that he did it. All I was doing was writing a post about something I thought was interesting. As for me not liking Gordon, i don’t cause he’s a hot head and causes to many wrecks in Nascar but I don’t hate him.
