Atlanta Braves off to impressive start

Published by wv918 at 8:38 am under baseball Edit This

I know were only two games into the Major League Baseball season but from what I see my Atlanta Braves are looking pretty impressive. They are 2-0 now after blanking the Philadelphia Phillies last night 4-0, with pitcher Jair Jurrens and and four relievers limiting the Phillies to just six hits.

Last night it was third baseman Chipper Jones and second baseman Kelly Johnson providing the hitting. Both hit solo homers and Johnson added a run with a infield single in the fourth allowing Jeff Francoeur to score.

Unlike Derek Lowe the night before who went eight innings, Jair Jurrens only lasted 5 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits while walking three and striking out two. Hopefully he will get the wildness under control because he was lucky last night that none of those walks came home to hurt him.

The Braves will be looking to sweep the Phillie’s today when they play at 3:05pm. Braves newcomer Javier Vasquez will be making his first start of the season. Vasquez was acquired in an off season trade from the Chicago White Sox. His pitching opponent will be Joe Blanton for the Phillie’s.

The Braves are off to a great start for sure. I wonder how long they will keep it up? If you want you can follow me on twitter now at http://twitter.com/robertwilkins

Are you still going to run your game for the race? I think that was a good idea.
