The Nascar Coca-Cola 600 is suppose to be ran today at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. It don’t start till around 5pm but checking the weather there is a 80% chance of rain today at the track. I suppose they will do everything possible to get the race in.
They have lights and it was going to end around 10 tonight if it starts on time. So they could possible hold off till around 8 starting it and it would finish around midnight.
I hope they do race tonight, I would like to see if Kasey can repeat his win he had here last year, He’s starting 6th so I think he has a pretty good car for the race. Kasey has did some complaining about the fact that his team is not using the new Dodge engine that Penske is having success with in Kurt Busch’s 2 car.
They are suppose to start using it at the Dover race coming up next so I hope it helps Kasey get back in the top 12 in the standings.

Tony Stewart won the Sprint All Star race Saturday, the reason I didnt blog about it is its not worth it. The media pisses me off kissing his ass like he has done some big accomplishment starting a new team. I’ll scream it again, HE HASNT STARTED A NEW TEAM, HE’S DRIVING FOR HENDRICKS MOTORSPORTS. The drivers are even admitting they are team mates now. I saw Ryan Newman on ESPN’s Nascar Now Saturday talking about how it was helpful sharing info with Jimmie and Jeff, who’s the Jimmie and Jeff he’s referring to hmmm.
But there is always a bright side, because Joey Logano got voted into the race by the fans. He had a good run and more importantly he got some track time which he needs. So look out in the Coca-Cola 600 because I think its time for Joey,a top 5 or maybe even a win.

I am sure that if you follow Nascar at all you have heard about Nascar driver Jeremy Mayfield being suspended indefinitely by Nascar for failing a drug test.. What I am curious about is who do you believe between the the two, Nascar or Jeremy Mayfield.
First you have Jeremy Mayfield, he just started his own Nascar team this year and made the Daytona 500 but since then has struggled to make races. He was tested at the Richmond race and later the test came back positive for a banned substance. He told Nascar to test his B sample and that also came back positive. So the next race at Darlington they suspended him indefinitely.
He says that he had bad allergies at Richmond and took Claritin-D and it reacted with a prescription drug that he has been taking. He refused to say what the drug is however. Nascar’s medical officer says there is no way the drugs Mayfield mentions can mix together in your system and create a banned substance.
He also says Nascar has never told him what drug was in his system that made him fail the test. Nascar says Mayfield was told on the separate occasions what the drug was by their medical officer who does the tests.
I find it hard to believe that Nascar wouldn’t inform someone of what drug was in their system if they failed a test. It just doesn’t make sense with all that Nascar has to lose from a lawsuit which Mayfield has said is a possibility if his suspension isn’t lifted.
In my opinion I just cant see Nascar suspending someone for a failed drug test unless they are absolutely sure of it. Like I said they have to much to lose if it were to blow up in their faces. I do think that they need to say what drug was found in Mayfield’s system that triggered the positive test. That doesn’t look good on their part to keep the drug a secret.

The Nascar drivers are having the Sprint All Star challenge this weekend at Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. There is no points to be gained during the race and the only thing that is on the line is $1 million dollars.
There are 18 drivers who qualified for the All Star race by winning a race either last year or this year. There is also a qualifying race ran right before the All Star race and the top 2 finishers go on to the All Star Challenge. Also there is a fan vote and that will put 1 more driver in the field for a total of 21 drivers.
Last year Kasey Kahne was voted in by the fans and went on to win the whole thing and grabbed the million dollar check. He wont have to rely on the fan vote since he won 2 races last year which automatically puts him in the All Star Challenge. I hoe Joey Logano gets either first or second in the qualifying race or if not at last get the fan vote. It would be cool for him and Kasey both to be in the big race.
Below are some facts about the All Star Challenge race
1.The first race was ran in 1985 and called The Winston
2.Darrell Waltrip won the first race
3.Waltrip’s check was for $ 20,000
4.Kasey Kahne won last year and his check was for over $ 1 million dollars
5.This will be the 25th running of the All Star race
6.The race was named The Winston for 1985 until 2004, then the Nextel All Star Challenge from 2004-2007 and last year it was renamed The Sprint All Star Challenge
7.Kasey Kahne was the first driver to be voted in and then go on to win the race
8.Fans started voting in a driver in 2004
9.The first All Star race back in 1985 had only 12 drivers
10.The Nascar drivers with the most wins in the race are Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon with 3 each and Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson both have 2 wins

Mark Martin won the Nascar Southern 500 at Darlington last night for his second win of the season. Almost all the top contenders hit the wall at one time or another and fell back in the pack but Martin managed to come out of the race with hardly a scratch on his car.
Martin led the final 47 laps for the victory all the while trying to conserve fuel for fear of running out of gas. Jimmie Johnson finished second after wrecking in qualifying and having to start in the back of the field.
Tony Stewart finished third and his team mate Ryan Newman was fourth. Nascar Sprint Cup points leader Jeff Gordon finished fifth and retained the lead in the points. Stewart moved up to second in the Sprint Cup standings 29 points behind Jeff Gordon
Dale Earnhardt Jr was 27th in yet another bad finish by him and his team. Looks like he may miss the the chase for the Sprint Cup if he don’t pick it up. I’m curious if Nascar will expand the chase field to maybe 15 if he misses the chase. If you recall Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon missed the chase one year and the next year the field was expanded from 10 to 12.
Defending race winner Kyle Busch had problems all night and finally hit the wall and finished in 34th place. I don’t know what the hell happened to Kasey Kahne but he looked real good in the middle of the race and got my hopes up for a win. Then all the sudden he was back in field and ended up 23rd.
Joey Logano looked good last night and finished in 10th place. He even led some laps and I was thinking how cool it would be if he actually won last night, but 10th place is still good. He’s moved up to 30th in the points now so he is distancing himself from the dreaded 35th spot cutoff line.
