Nascar vs. Jeremy Mayfield in drug war

Published by wv918 under Uncategorized Edit This

I am sure that if you follow Nascar at all you have heard about Nascar driver Jeremy Mayfield being suspended indefinitely by Nascar for failing a drug test.. What I am curious about is who do you believe between the the two, Nascar or Jeremy Mayfield.

First you have Jeremy Mayfield, he just started his own Nascar team this year and made the Daytona 500 but since then has struggled to make races. He was tested at the Richmond race and later the test came back positive for a banned substance. He told Nascar to test his B sample and that also came back positive. So the next race at Darlington they suspended him indefinitely.

He says that he had bad allergies at Richmond and took Claritin-D and it reacted with a prescription drug that he has been taking. He refused to say what the drug is however. Nascar’s medical officer says there is no way the drugs Mayfield mentions can mix together in your system and create a banned substance.

He also says Nascar has never told him what drug was in his system that made him fail the test. Nascar says Mayfield was told on the separate occasions what the drug was by their medical officer who does the tests.

I find it hard to believe that Nascar wouldn’t inform someone of what drug was in their system if they failed a test. It just doesn’t make sense with all that Nascar has to lose from a lawsuit which Mayfield has said is a possibility if his suspension isn’t lifted.

In my opinion I just cant see Nascar suspending someone for a failed drug test unless they are absolutely sure of it. Like I said they have to much to lose if it were to blow up in their faces. I do think that they need to say what drug was found in Mayfield’s system that triggered the positive test. That doesn’t look good on their part to keep the drug a secret.

Video of 00 car at last years Samsung 500

Published by wv918 under Uncategorized Edit This

Here’s the video of Michael McDowell wrecking the 00 car in last years qualifying for the Samsung 500. I made a mistake when I said he hit the wall at 160 mph it was actually estimated that he hit going 185 mph.

Hard Nascar truck wreck

Published by wv918 under Uncategorized Edit This

I found the video of Colin Braun’s big wreck yesterday on You Tube just now. When you watch it pay attention to about the 2:40 minute mark, it shows how Nascar’s safer barriers protect the drivers.

The wall moved in about one foot but still stayed in place and absorbed the energy of the crash. Braun would have probably been seriously hurt if that had been a concrete wall.

Bud Shootout Lineup Set

Published by wv918 under Nascar, Uncategorized Edit This

The lineup for Saturday night’s Bud Shootout was announced last night on the Speed channel. Paul Menard of Yates Racing got the pole position while Elliott Sadler of Richard Petty MotorSports will be on the outside row. The way the spots were picked is each of the 28 drivers went up to a bar that had 28 Bud bottles lined up on it. Each driver picked a bottle and inside that bottle was small flag with their starting position. Dale Earnhardt who won the race last year will be starting 9th and his teammate and defending Sprint Cup champion will be in the 21st starting spot. Jeff Gordon was the unlucky one who happened to pick the last starting spot. Although anyone who follows Nascar knows starting spots don’t mean anything at Daytona. Reed Sorenson has the best starting spot of my favorite drivers, he will start the 43 car from the 3rd spot. Denny Hamlin will be in 5th, Kasey Kahne 14th and Joey Logano will start 19th. The race is Saturday night on Fox beginning at 8pm. Cars will be on the track today at 4:15 for practice and that will be on the Speed channel. You can check out the complete starting line up at Fox Sports. Below are some  pics that were taken at media day yesterday.

Denny Hamlin

Jimmie Johnson

Martin Truex, Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch

Battle of the Best in the West

Published by wv918 under Uncategorized Edit This

The 2 best teams in the Western Conference met yesterday when the Los Angeles Lakers met the San Antonio Spurs but it turned out to be a lopsided game in the end. Final score was 99-85 and it wasn’t even as close as the score would indicate. Kobe Bryant sat out the fourth quarter after scoring 22 points. Pau Gasol added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Jordan Farmer returned to the lineup after missing the last 18 games because of a knee injury. He contributed 14 points and fellow bench warmer Trevor Azira added 17 points in the win. The win was the 14th out of the last 17 for the Lakers who also have a NBA best winning percentage of .814. The Spurs were led by Tony Parker with his 19 points and 6 assists and Tim Duncan with his 15 points and 8 rebounds. The loss was just the 4th in the last 18 games for the Spurs.
